CANADA'S BEEF INDUSTRY – A CUT ABOVE IN QUALITY, SAFETY AND CONSISTENCY
Canadian beef is recognized for its outstanding flavor and tenderness. To produce world class beef, you start with the finest cattle. Thanks to Western Canada's supply of fresh water and clean, wide open spaces we have the ideal environment to do just that.
Canada's cool climate means the selection of breeds is not limited to cattle that can tolerate high heat conditions. The Canadian industry utilizes genetics which include Angus, Hereford, Simmental, Charolais and Limousin, often cross-breeding to combine the best characteristics of these breeds. This superior genetic foundation, coupled with Canada's ideal environmental conditions translates into improved beef carcass quality and consistency.
Canadian cattle producers also understand and are committed to environmental sustainability and humane handling of their animals, demonstrating best practices in these areas. And Canada is one of the worlds' largest grain producers. Because these high quality feed grains contribute to well marbled, flavorful, tender beef with firm, white colored fat this makes our beef a good choice for customers all over the world.
Consistent Quality, Food Safety and Experience. Every Step of the Way.
XL Foods is owned by Nilsson Brothers Inc, who are also owners and operators of several western Canadian cow /calf operations. That direct experience with primary production helps gives XL Foods a deep understanding of the livestock value chain from pasture to plate.
Our commitment to food safety and quality also begins on the farm. Each animal leaving a herd is fitted with a radio frequency identification ear tag approved by the Canadian Cattle Identification Agency that insures rapid and accurate animal identification. It is a cornerstone of Canada's commitment to animal heath and food safety system.
